The Roosevelt Island Garden Club, is a not-for-profit membership organization. There are two general membership meetings annually, one in March and one in October. Four officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer) and three Directors are elected by the members at the October general membership meeting. The Executive Board consists of these seven elected members and the Standing Committees Chairs appointed by the Board. The Executive Board generally meets once a month and conducts the business of RIGC between general membership meetings.
The members of RIGC are plot holders of the community garden in Octagon Park. RIGC manages the community garden under an agreement with the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC). To become a member a person must live on Roosevelt Island. There is a waiting list of people who have applied to join and be assigned a plot. If you wish to apply for a garden plot membership, download the Waitlist Application to the right and mail it to RIGC, PO Box 127, NY, NY 10044 or to the email below. While on the waitlist, and before joining RIGC as a full member, a person can become an Associate gardener, working in the garden community areas or helping a member who needs assistance. If interested in the Associate program, contact the Secretary at firstname.lastname@example.org.
