Story: "Some of my favorite spots of the island are the south and the very northmost tips of the island. So on the southmost side you have the Franklin Roosevelt Park. And what I really like about it is when you walk towards the end, you have the trees and the outside and they kind of align and meet towards the end. and you get this absolutely beautiful view of New York once you're just chilling there. Especially around Spring period, it's just beautiful. The leaves start to blossom and everyone's just happy. It's just a delightful mood."

Story: "My favorite spot is in the Roosevelt Island Garden Club. It's the compost area. For about 5 years now, we've been trying to take anything that grows out of the ground or falls to the ground in the garden club, including all 132 plots and the trees surrounding it, and turning them back into nutrients to feed the soil. It's quite a change from the way that we used to do it. I think we used to do it like everyone else did: toss things in plastic bags and expect someone else to take care of it. But now we've learned to take that in a different direction."

Story: "I'm talking about one of my favorite spots on the island and it's the meditation steps. I've been here for about 42 years, one of the original tenants here on Roosevelt Island and one of the first kids. The meditation steps was really special for me because it was a meeting spot for all of us to gather and get to know each other and all the other different cultures here on Roosevelt Island. And it was always such a fun place because we could always have such great conversations and, like I said, get to know each other."

Story: "I would like to introduce the Blue Dragon, a children's sculpture that was donated by the sculptor/artist from Sweden, Gustav Kraitz. We would like to see this donation as the beginning of a new era on Roosevelt Island, turning the island into the island of art and sculpture. The sculpture, the Blue Dragon, weighs 2 tons. It is a black granite from Swedish quarry. The value of the sculpture is $200,000. The project was initiated in 2014. This was a project because there were cracks in the pillar and Gustav Kraitz had been commissioned by the Nobel Foundation in Stockholm to create this monument for Raoul Wallenberg."
