Garden Club Members should see the flier in the shed and on the garden gate for information on next week’s annual shopping expedition.
Also on Sunday, the Outreach and Publicity Committee took a group of gardeners to Coler Hospital to clean up and plant in one of the hospital’s gardens. Julia Ferguson, Karen Lee, Neal Weissman, and Robert Ostergaard spent several hours working in a garden adjacent to the hospital’s memory care unit, so residents there will be able to enjoy the space this summer and beyond.
They were joined by Anthony Longo, who is planning next Sunday’s Coler visit, when the Garden Club will be working to rehabilitate a large container garden.
The partnership between Coler and the Roosevelt Island Garden Club was formed late last summer, when a Coler resident was visiting our garden and struck up a conversation with Anthony. Through this conversation, the Garden Club learned that Coler’s gardens were in need of attention and care.
Garden Club members who are interested in volunteering at Coler Hospital Sunday, April 29 (or other dates this summer) or who have plants they'd like to donate, can contact Robert Ostergaard at [email protected]
